Student Development
Welcome to Student Development at Westminster College. From initial advising and orientation through commencement, our departments are concerned with all facets of student life. We provide opportunities for engaging and learning outside the classroom as well as programs and services to support student academic and personal success. We invite you to meet our staff and take advantage of the many resources we offer.
Susan Heath is the Associate Provost for Student Development and leads the division which includes the following departments:
The Career Resource Center provides guidance and assistance with career exploration and planning, internship experiences, graduate school advising, job-search skills, and employment opportunities for students and alumni. The center also sponsors Career Passages, a two year career development program.
The Fitness, Wellness and Recreation department is dedicated to making a positive difference in the health and well-being of our community of learners. Programming is offered in fitness, wellness, outdoor recreation, and intramurals in the Dolores Dore Eccles Health, Wellness and Athletic Center as well as the surrounding locale.
The Athletics programs are an integral part of campus life, supporting the division commitment to engaging students in learning outside the classroom. The college sponsors 17 intercollegiate teams with over 250 student athletes wearing Westminster colors of purple and gold.
The START Center serves as the academic advising and support center on campus. In addition to new and undeclared student advising, the START Center also coordinates other programs supporting student transitions and academic success. These include disability services, peer tutoring, and the early alert programs.
Student life facilitates opportunities for student growth and development through co-curricular involvement and support in the areas of spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional wellness. The Student Life area is comprised of the Dean of Students, Counseling Center, Residence Life, Spiritual Life, Student Health Services, and Student Involvement and Leadership offices.
